Rove knows that, if he turns on the Republican Party, he has no future. He won't get that cushy private sector job like Cheney did, he won't be a paid political operative anymore. He'll get a fat book deal, a small lecture tour and that's it. Karl Rove thinks way too far into the future to sacrifice millions of dollars in exchange for a token jail sentence.
And having spent the last two summers working on a grand jury practice treatise with one of the foremost criminal lawyers in the country, my money is that Rove didn't cooperate with the grand jury a 4th time because he flipped. He cooperated because if he didn't it would only paint a bigger target on his back.
The Democratic Party will never get anywhere by underestimating the Republicans. We will only help this country by standing up against the things they believe in - greed, religious fundamentalism, and selfishness.
And Josh: due to cross-references between Star Wars and Star Trek, your desk has been moved into the Nerd Wing of Holding Forth Headquarters.
Have a good day and remember: Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia.
