I think the more apt analogy would be that comparing John Roberts to Harriet Miers is like comparing a doctor who works at an excellent hospital because he did well in school and his opinion was valued, to another doctor who works at an excellent hospital because she one of her best friends is on the board of directors and she knows exactly what he wants to her.
