Katherine Harris, known for the 2000 election recount fame and her excellent and on-going impression of Cruella Deville, is running for Democrat Bill Nelson's Senate seat in Florida. However, within the last couple weeks it was widely speculated that she would withdraw from the race due to a controversy regarding links between her and uber-lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Well, she announced last night that not only is she staying in the race, she's putting up $10 million dollars of her own money to do it.
This is fantastic news. Harris' poll numbers are just plain awful against Nelson and the more people hear about her, the lower her numbers go. She has some popularity in her home district (one of the wealthiest in the state) but NONE anywhere else. The GOP won't support and begged her not to run. In fact, they're even considering supporting Fla. Senate leader Tom Lee to run against her in the primary.
She'll get killed in November. And I mean bad. And if she loses her fortune doing it, well that's just icing on the cake.
