The Virginia Governor's race has been called for Democrat Tim Kaine. The New Jersey Governor's race has been called for John Corzine. It's a good day to be a Democrat and be able to watch a collective moment of realization from millions of your countrymen. I stand by my prediction that this is a good bellwether for next year's Congressional races. At the very least, it creates the media frame that Democrats are coming back into power.
The interesting thing about the New Jersey race is that Corzine now gets to name his successor to the Senate. It's widely believed to be Lt. Governor Dick Codey, as polling shows him the man to beat against all Republican candidates in 2006.
I'm going to go drink a beer.
