A normal person may not know why the salutation on the letter reproduced above is hilariously inaccurate, but assuredly the Justice Department's Office of Legislative Affairs should have known. I'm torn on this one--on the one hand, this is a hilarious gaffe; on the other hand, I wish it had been the gaffe of another country's agency. Thus, my emotional reaction comes in two parts: first mirth, then a tempering mix of horror and sadness. The first half is sort of like watching a clown car zigzag across the road on two wheels and crash into the side of the circus ring with a jolly "AOO-GA!" noise. The second half is like watching six clowns spill out from the wreckage, screaming and covered in flaming gasoline.
