Appropriateness

The Washington Post has an article today that is essentially two pages of people complaining that the September 11th Memorial at the Pentagon plants a tourist attraction on the side of something that, to quote the director of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, "was not designed to be a welcoming and nice place to visit, like the Mall." Frankly, given the trends of post-September 11th architecture and politics, I don't think they could do better than slap 1,000 pounds of concrete and barbed wire atop it and let the public look at it through viewfinders from 300 meters away. A brief artist's rendition of my proposal is below.
